Chelsea — Winner of the Champions League

Chelsea becomes the winner of the Champions League for the 2020/2021 season. A difficult season for the aristocrats ended with a trophy in the main European club tournament. In the final, Manchester City was defeated 1:0.

Bookmakers considered Chelsea an underdog, however, this wasn’t evident in their play. Thomas Tuchel’s charges created significantly more scoring opportunities and managed to convert one of them. In the 42nd minute, Mason Mount made a brilliant cutting pass, and Kai Havertz beat the goalkeeper and scored into an empty net.

In the second half, Chelsea gave the initiative to the citizens, but they couldn’t turn it into a goal. Moreover, no significant moments were created at the Blues’ goal. Perhaps, the forced substitution of Kevin De Bruyne in the 60th minute, which happened after a head collision with Antonio Rudiger, played a role.

Thus, Chelsea ends the season by winning the first and most significant trophy in European club football. As for Manchester City, the team has already won the English Premier League and the English League Cup this year. They failed to add a third trophy to their collection.
