Former footballer Valery Karpin, currently the head coach of FC Rostov, has officially assumed the role of head coach of the Russian national football team. Today, July 26, he signed the relevant contract with the RFU.
It became known a few days ago about Karpin’s appointment as head coach of the Russian national team. His salary was also announced, amounting to €700,000 per year, which is several times less than the salary of the former coach Cherchesov.
As it turned out, Karpin will not stop working with Rostov and will combine positions. Also today, Valery Georgievich shared information about who will be his assistants.
“The coaching staff will include Viktor Onopko, Nikolai Pisarev, Luis Martinez, Vitaly Kafanov, and Jonathan Alba. Due to combining roles, I won’t be able to attend all tour matches, but Viktor Savelyevich and Nikolai Nikolayevich will. They will constantly provide me with reports and all necessary information,” quotes Karpin «Championat».
Valery Karpin replaced Stanislav Cherchesov as the head coach of the Russian national team after the specialist failed at Euro-2020. Recall, the Russian national team won only one match in the group stage and finished last in their subgroup.
