The Germans had more possession of the ball, but all their attempts to create danger mostly ended unsuccessfully. The French achieved their goal, once again, not without the help of German players. The only goal was scored on the 20th minute when Mats Hummels deflected the ball into his own net.
In the second half, the game picture didn’t change much. Moreover, the ball ended up in the German team’s net twice more, but both times the goals were disallowed due to offside. Adrien Rabiot was close to scoring against Manuel Neuer, but his shot hit the post.
